The Dublin Cultural Institute (DCI) is an english language school based on the corner of O'Connell Street and Bachelor's Walk in Dublin. When they wanted to upgrade their online presence they contracted Noise and Big Top Multimedia
to deliver the project. DCI required a major revamp of the look and feel to make the site brighter and fresher while also working as a great platform for the site information. Moreover, they wanted to integrate a live feed of Dublin's main street from a webcam create a nice 'sticky' bit of content for the site.
Noise delivered the frontend design for the site - this is the template that you see on the site. We considered the layout of the various sections and created a grid that would allow flexibility in the addition of highlighted sections down the right-hand panel. This would include the link to the 'View of Dublin' feature. Another nice feature is the use of a banner rotator on the homepage and in the gallery section. This allows images to be viewed without using flash (slowing or blocking your online experience) and allowing the user use buttons to control the viewing experience if they want.
The new site has had a positive impact on the view people have of the DCI. The integration of the live cam was a great success and the layout of the information on the site has meant that the site is now working harder for the DCI. We will monitor the progress of the site and look forward to developing the site further with the DCI.
